Fostering Equality, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

African Community UK CIC works to reduce unfair gaps for Black and minoritised ethnic groups using a structured, evidence-informed approach grounded in anti-racist and equity-focused strategies:

  • Align our delivery models with the local authorities’ framework priorities on prevention, inclusion, and community empowerment.
  • Review our internal policies and practices to identify and eliminate systemic barriers. While we acknowledge that systemic barriers often affect Black and minoritised ethnic groups, our commitment extends to ensuring equity for everyone, regardless of their background.
  • Organise community health literacy workshops on navigating the NHS, mental health stigma, maternal health, healthy eating, chronic disease prevention and management.
  • Partner with local organisations to co-create services that reflect lived experience, cultural values, and language needs.
  • Recruit and support peer educators and community health champions from diverse backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with housing, employment, and education services to address the root causes of poor health.
  • Advocate for structural changes, such as inclusive employment practices.
  • Use trusted community spaces such as churches, mosques, and cultural events for outreach and service delivery.
  • Provide multilingual resources and support for digital inclusion.
  • Ensure appropriate evidence generation.
  • Join regional and national coalitions working to tackle ethnic health inequalities.

Together, we will create an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, free from barriers that hinder their success.
